Preston Village Cricket Club - Field Of Dreams

 THE FIELD OF DREAMS

Above is our Field Of Dreams with a seating capacity is 15 (if you squeeze together on the bench) now known as the Prestoungrange Gothenburg Oval.

In 2002 as a result of the efforts of the Club and the support of East Lothian Council the "Village People" moved from the frozen tundra of Meadowmill which had been home for the club since 1991 to the Polwarth in the centre of town.

The main driver for the move was our infamous all-rounder Mano who successfully developed  the Polwarth Project by basically pestering the life out of anyone who gave even the slightest indication of an interest in assisting the club in making the move. It is a well know fact that the most banned e-mail address within East Lothian Council was Mano's as a succession of bureaucrats found his non- stop contact some what wearing, thats code for  bloody annoying, but his persistence paid off.

Luckily the photo on this page was taken in the heatwave summer of 2002 and therefore shows Polwarth in it best light, but in truth it is a very good location for cricket and one we are justifiably proud of.

The Mano mantra through out this process was "build it and they will come" and in fairness it has worked, although we all still trying to work out exactly where the dance floor was meant to be located in the pavilion.  Perhaps Mano will let us know one day.

2006 saw a major development at Polwarth that will enable the side to develop at all levels - the astro turfing of the practice nets. In 2007 the facility's upgrading will continue will the inclusion of an astro turf strip on the edge of the current square and off the field - the council's promised development of the pavilion is due to start.
