08 Mar 2010 : March Update
New club Captain

Graeme Barrie was elected club captain at the AGM

G’s first objective will be to get the team moving in the right direction and make sure both senior sides are ready to go at the start of the season

Good luck to G I'm sure he'll get the support of everyone

A full list of the new committee is on the wed site in the official’s page

Training

Indoors Nets have started at Edinburgh Academy, 4-6 pm on a Sunday afternoon. So far numbers have been good but some “well kent” faces still missing so get along and get your eye in

Outdoor training will start weather permitting at the end of March

Fixtures

With the exception of a couple of mid week games the fixtures are largely complete. Check the web site

The junior fixtures will be posted at the end of the month

Pavilion

Work on the pavilion will start on the 22nd March and will be completed in mid July.

Arrangements are being made for April to July details to follow

50 Club

The club has launched a 50 club (thanks Mas). Basic idea is that each member takes as many numbers as poss. at £10 for 10 draws from March to December.

At least 50% of monthly income will be the prize so the more numbers we sell the more the prize money rises. The balance goes to cover club costs.

An application form is on the web site – so sell as many as you can to friends relatives etc and e-mail them to Mas

09 Dec 2009 : December Update
PVCC December Update

AGM

The AGM will take place at the Goth on the 22nd January 2010 starting at 7.30. Only full members can participate and the paperwork will be issued by email where possible to all full members in due course

Fees 2009

Graeme gave a his usual finance report to the Committee at its last meeting prior to the AGM last week, it was disappointing to note that the number of members who’d paid their subscriptions last season not as high as it should have been and some “well kent” faces have obviously not paid at all.

Apart from the fact that you aren’t members of the club, or covered by our insurance there are some players who’ve taken advantage of playing games and using the facilities last season, some playing more than the average 14 games per player without contributing anything to the clubs upkeep.

You know if you’ve paid or not and if you haven’t then get in touch with Graeme ASAP and sort it out.

Indoor Nets

Start Sunday 17th January from 4-6 pm at Edinburgh Academy. This year we are sharing with Edinburgh Accies. The cost will be £5 per session, a steal at any price

ESCA Top Performers 2009

Despite the disappointing season overall 3 of our guys got into the top twenty performers in their respective leagues

In Division 3 Craig Patterson was 8th equal in the bowling list and Mike Brunton was 14th in the batting, Whilst in Division 8 Kenny Black was 8th overall in the batting.

Well done to all 3 for their performances during the season

Player Recruitment

After last years losses we are looking to increase the playing base with a recruitment drive. If you can display a poster at your work place or anywhere else pleases let Ian P know and he’ll get one to you.

Also we’ll be leafleting all the new houses in Prestonpans and Tranent on Sunday 10th January so we’ll need as many people as possible.

If we get enough people that it will take a couple of hours then we can retire to the Goth to refresh ourselves before training commences the following week and the athletes amongst us stop drinking until they’ve reach peak fitness.

Let any one on the committee know if you available to help

Christmas Night Out

Next Saturday 7.30 onwards in the Goth, Mas has already circulated details so see you there

13 Nov 2009 : November Update
PVCC - November Update

PVCC AGM

Will now take place in February so the new committee is in place for the start of the season

ESCA and East Junior Cricket AGM’s

Both take place this month Ian P is representing the Cub

Main issue on ESCA AGM is a proposal to alter the points system to 10 points for a win( 7 for a tie) . Bonus points for losing team only based on

a. percentage of the 1st innings total achieved if the loser bats second a point at 50,60,70,80 and 90 percent

Or

b. Wickets taken 3, 5 7,8 and 9

This rule change was voted on last year and failed to get the necessary 2/3rds majority

Pavilion Update

Tenders have been received for the refurbishment. The contract will be awarded in the next couple of weeks with a December start. Completion date end of March 2010

Indoor Nets

Start January 2010 – 4 till 6 at Edinburgh Academy, as with last year we are sharing with Boroughmuir

09 Sep 2009 : Pavilion Up Date
News from the council is that the contractors will start re-furbishing the Pavilion in Mid November. It’s a 15 week contract so even allowing for any overruns the “new” pavilion will be in place for us at the start of next season.

Some good news to end a forgettable season

04 Sep 2009 : Final Weekend Wash Out
Given the weather since mid–July it perhaps fitting but never the less disappointing that the last game of the season against Hawick was called off today because of the torrential rain over the last 2 days

Hawick were due to make their first trip to the Pans but have given a commitment to do so in an early season friendly next year

Looks like its time to hibernate till pre-season nets in January BUT don’t forget the Awards Night next Saturday, tickets are still available at the bargain price of £10 per head

30 Aug 2009 : Final league weekend sees 1’s regulated, 2's win and Adam Forsyth becomes the youngest 1st league player in club history
The last weekend of the season saw the first losing by 54 runs at Dafs , and the 2’s winning by 34 runs at Polwarth

A bit of history was made when Adam Forsyth (13 ) became the youngest player in history to play in a league game for the firsts. The youngster carded 18 for 0 in his 4 overs and was 5 not out at the end so all in all not a bad start for the young man

16 Aug 2009 : Saturday washout and Development team go down by 11 runs on Sunday
Both the 1sts and 2nds were washed out along with almost all the East league programme on Saturday; the only good thong was that it coincided with the 20 20 final days so no one was totally devoid of Cricket

Sunday saw a thoroughly enjoyable game at the Inch Edinburgh South batted first and posted 111 with Josie picking up 3wickets and Abdul snaring 4

In reply the PV team fell just short on 100 all out

02 Aug 2009 : Mixed weekend but 2's win a thriller and BBQ a success
All 3 teams should have been in action but the 1's game was lost to the weather.

The 2's bowled Drummond Trinity out for 59 then struggled to a 2 wicket win and few bitten finger nails. Mas not out 11 at number 7 was crucial

Sunday saw the PVXI going down to Haddington by 1 wicket

Finally the BBQ was a success although the Sunday team did seemed a little "fuzzy" around the edges when they showed up at Polwarth on Sunday
